Brutal is a Berlin-based studio founded by designers and chefs with a shared dedication to craftsmanship and thoughtful design. Our work begins with a simple idea: everyday tools deserve exceptional attention.

Through years of experience in professional kitchens and product design, we have observed the small but persistent flaws present in many kitchen accessories. Traditional saya knife sheaths, for example, often rely on a removable wooden or synthetic pin to secure the blade. Once lost, the sheath becomes impractical. Most commercially available sayas are also machine-produced, offer limited wood selections, and rarely provide a truly precise fit.

At Brutal, we set out to rethink this essential object.

Each saya is handcrafted in Berlin from carefully selected solid natural wood. Our signature pinless design secures the knife without the need for additional components, creating a clean and reliable solution while preserving the purity of the form.

We believe in clarity, restraint, and durability. Every piece is produced in small batches, allowing us to maintain complete control over quality, detail, and finish.

The result is a functional object designed not only to protect your knives, but to age beautifully and remain part of your kitchen for years to come.
